This small but intriguing exhibition celebrates the Museum's acquisition of its first work by the German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840), Two Men Contemplating the Moon. One of three extant versions, the painting and its two variants, which are on loan from Dresden and Berlin, are shown together for the first time, accompanied by several other works by Friedrich's contemporaries Carus, Dahl, Gille, and Heinrich.
